17 Months!!

Krewson turned 17 months last Friday on August 5th!  I skipped a 16-month update so thought it was about time I fill you all in on his life a little. :)

He is now wearing 12 month shorts, 12-18 month shirts, size 5 shoes (and even some 6s), and size 3 diapers.  When I weighed him tonight he was about 24 1/2 lbs.  He's also definitely getting taller, although we don't know his exact height.  He's suddenly almost the height needed to pull open the back door, and he's reaching a lot of other things that have previously not been a concern.  It gives us an exciting new list of items to check for babyproofing.  :)

He's a jabbering machine these days.  He loves to babble and talk to us, although we're clueless as to what he's saying about 80% of the time.  He's picked up quite a few words and frequently attempts to say mama, dada, grandma, grandpa, bubble, ball, dog, water, milk, outside, please, up please, down please, thank you, wow, yay, this, and that.  I think there are some other words too, but I can't remember them at the moment.  What I'm really enjoying is that he finally seems to be differentiating between Dave and me by using "dada" and "mama".  It's great to actually have a name.  :)

He loooooooooves dogs right now.  He gets super excited and goes into fits of giggles when he sees any dogs, including our own when we come home to them at the end of the day or when they crowd around his high chair.  We actually have to be careful, because he even loves dogs that are growling and snapping at him.  (Scary, right?)

He's sooooooo close to being able to run.  He walks super fast and picks his little knees up really high and pushes his shoulders and head forward as he goes.  And one of his favorite things to do while he's almost-running is to charge between our legs like a tunnel.  When he decides it's time to use our legs as a tunnel, he comes up and pushes through with his arms.  And if you're not tall enough, watch out, because he'll just knock his head straight into your privates.  (Trust me, I've seen it happen.)

He still loves books and still loves his videos.  He's getting to be quite the climber and can climb onto much of our furniture on his own.  He also likes to climb step ladders and stairways.  Especially when we're not looking.  And he still loves to dance, which makes me oh so happy. It's so sweet to see him sway and spin and bounce to the music. :)

He had a double ear infection for the last month, which was a pain to deal with.  The first round of antibiotics didn't take care of it, but luckily a second round with a stronger antibiotic did the trick.  I was grateful to be in Indiana during the last days of the antibiotics so my mom could check his ears and let me know that they were indeed healed.  Thank goodness, because he was a serious mommy-hater while he was sick.  I'm not kidding.  He acted like I was the worst person on the earth about 80% of the time.  It was rather depressing.  As much as I didn't want to, I couldn't help but take it a bit personally and feel hurt.  He didn't like for me to hold him or play with him or anything if his daddy was anywhere around.  In fact, he'd go into a complete tantrum if I tried to do anything with him and Dave was anywhere nearby.  Fortunately, now that he's feeling well again, he seems to be back to loving me.  Phew. :)

Alright well this was a lot of rambling, but I'm tired and have a lot to do and so don't have the time to do my usual proofreading and rewording.  Please disregard any grammatical or spelling mistakes. :)

And to finish up, here are some pictures from the last month or so. And yes, he has food on his face or shirt in half of the pictures. It's his way of life these days. :)
