The Crooked

Today is my Bible study's last week in the book "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow.  It's been a great study...I have definitely felt more enlightened and challenged by this book than many of the others we've done.  I'm somewhat sad to know it's over!

My favorite quote from today's chapter was the following:

"If we could fully comprehend God, He wouldn't be God -
He would be like us."

How true this is! So often I want to see and understand His plan, I want to know why, I want to be able to plan ahead or let go of the past based on the knowledge of what's going to happen (which of course isn't possible).  And I'll get angry because I can't do these things - yet if I could, what room would that leave for God in my life?  The fact that I can't see and understand His plan means it's so great and complicated that it's beyond my comprehension.  And that's a wonderful thing!! If only I could remember this on a daily basis.

"There is the crooked that God causes and the crooked that we create for ourselves and God allows.  We make mistakes, blunders, messes.  We can create disorder, chaos, sadness, and suffering by breaking God's instructions concerning how life is to be lived.  Yet He who is in control over all things says, concerning the seemingly crooked that He has made or the crooked we have caused, 'All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose' (Romans 8:28)."
