Quiet

Today when I pulled into my work parking lot there were about 10 cars. In fact, there were zero cars in the area of the lot that I park in, and I had to pause for a moment and wonder if I'd missed the memo about a January 2nd holiday.

In any case, it is very nice a peaceful in the office building today. I must say I'm enjoying it.

Along the note of workplaces, it is days like today that I'm semi-glad that I don't have a window office. I can just sit here in my oblivion and pretend that it's sunny outside, even though it's not. And I have nothing to show me otherwise. Goodbye seasonal affective disorder. (I'm totally joking.)

My windowless office

  1. I see you have all the comforts of home: a vest, glass of water, thermos, pictures on the wall (love the giraffes), calendar and computer. I used to work in an office that was kept unreasonably cold and had to keep a space heater under my desk. How I hated to have to get up to do anything!

I "should" be working today but I'm finding it difficult. My office is now in our converted garage, which is nice (no commute time...but terribly close to the kitchen.) I'm always wondering if it's lunchtime yet.

  2. I used to have an office at school that was windowless. I liked it for the same reason...I never knew if it was pouring out or not. Now, I have a room with a view of a first grade class. It is definitely more interesting. Unfortunately, my students think so, too. I'm always trying to reel them back in to what I'm saying. Their eyes are glued to the class across the way.

  3. Windows are overrated :) I get what you're saying about the office seeming empty. I obviously took off today, but in the past few weeks it has been weird to be the only car in my section also, sometimes.

  4. Don't feel bad. One time I almost took my children to school on a teacher's workday. I really did miss the memo! Luckily a teacher friend reminded me at oh about 9 the night before.

  5. You've done a great job with your office. Who needs windows when you have nice pictures?! I work from home and have my desk situated so I can see into my back yard and my dogs. Happy New Year!

  6. That's a neat office. I always tell my husband to get to work early before all the coworkers come in so that he can have some quiet and get more work done and come home early...but he can't wake early enough. (The commute is 1 hour and it's super cold these days.) Anyhow, I'm glad you got some peace during your day. Happy new year!
